Citroen
Xsara Hdi
Not normally viewed as your average road burner, the 90bhp/154lb
ft Xsara is given a completely different perspective with
an additional 30bhp / 28lb ft. Acceleration is now brisk
and overtaking no longer a book in advance requirement.
A number of these cars are used for towing, where the
additional torque low down really comes into play. Fuel
economy has remained the same with this under normal use
too.

Fiat 1242 16v, Stilo, Bravo/a &
Punto
Whilst
the remap only provides an additional 8bhp and 9 lb ft
torque it makes a noticeable difference in delivery. Acceleration
from a standstill in 1st to 3rd is much smoother and the
drop down into 4th doesn't suffer from the often felt
flat spot. This remap isn't enough to pin you into your
seat, but the 10% power increase makes the car sparkle
and more enjoyable to drive. Obviously the difference
is felt more in the Punto than the Stilo because of the
weight.
Kevin said of his Bravo post the remap "When the car
is heavy - 4 peeps or more it used to be sooo slow - now
it picks up revs and goes regardless. (biggest difference)",
he went on to say "But most of all my fave improvemnt
is just the feeling of general driving - the throttle
response is better and its lost that feeling of it not
actually pulling

Fiat 1910 JTD Punto
Wow! Our remap provides somewhere near 125bhp form the
original 80bhp without any further modification. Torque
is up to over 190 lb ft which makes acceleration very
brisk from a standstill, and mid range punch for overtaking
with or without dropping down a gear is stunning. The
top speed is far more than we would promote but lets just
say you will immediately receive a lengthy ban!
The fuel consumption we achieved before the remap was
45.8 mpg on average, after this remap it improved to over
48mpg. We can't understand why it should improve that
much as we were expecting it to decrease slightly and
will ask people to expect that to occur rather than improve.
On one 220 mile round motorway trip (including the M25)
we achieved over 52mpg - at an average mph of, well
lets just say 70 shall we!
One issue that occurs on a number of standard Punto is
with selection issue on the gearbox. We have had no issue
with ours in over 4000 miles of hard testing so we think
it is a case of if you were going to have problems, the
remap is not going to make any difference to this. Lastly
all the additional torque may induce a small clutch slip
at peak torque on high mileage versions or on clutches
that have been "ridden". Our demo car had slip even before
we remapped it (28,000 miles - 3 years old) but it hasn't
got any worse since.
I took a guy out in a demo who went white after 1/2 a
mile and said "OK I think you have proved its quick....can
we slow down now"

Fiat 1910 JTD Bravo / Stilo
If we take the original 105 bhp as a starting point, which
wasn't the most enthralling car to drive, we can remap
this to somewhere in the region of 150 plus bhp. This
takes this into the Bravo HGT performance territory, for
anyone who has ever driven one of these! The long term
testing on this has thrown up a decrease of 2 mpg on the
consumption but apparently the grin hasn't worn off anyone
yet! This remap is of course available on all JTD Bravo/a
and the newer Stilo, even if it is billed as a 100, 105,
110 or 115 bhp version.
If 150 plus bhp sounds a bit too much for you we can provide
a detuned version of circa 130 bhp, although no-one has
asked for it as the car can easily handle the additional
power with only the slight decrease in economy being the
pay off for having it.
I think the best line we receivced on this is from a Brava
owner, Pete, when we asked him how it
was going.... "still grinning from ear to ear"!
We may tell you his other quote if you ask us, but we
can't put it here in case it offends anyone!

Fiat Multipla 1910 JTD
We love these cars to bits! Whilst we do not have one,
nor have we ever owned one long term we have worked closely
with the Fiat Multipla Owners club to test and refine
our remapping work.
The Multipla Mad Map (or mmm as we call it!) OK this is
not for the feint hearted. We can remap the Multi to over
155 bhp (105 - 115 starting point) which gives sub 10
second acceleration, enough to pin the kids to the rear
window if they are not expecting it. The fuel consumption
on this conversion is between 43 and 45 mpg, however you
must be prepared for the odd puff of smoke on full, hard
acceleration and you will find that at peak torque the
clutch will slip slightly in 4th if used all the time.
This map is ideal if you can tame your right foot and
use the peak power only when you need it. We would also
not recommend this if you do a lot of towing as the power
is a bit higher up the rev range and the clutch issue
on high milers comes into play again.
The "Sensible" map. This is a detuned version of our Multipla
map which comes out at around 130bhp. This significantly
improves the drivability of the car and moves it along
a considerably brisk pace. There are no high mileage clutch
issues nor any puffs of black smoke and is ideal for towing.
Economy is around the mid 45's as well.

Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 T Spark
The 1.8 started life with 140 bhp as opposed to the 2.0
150 plus power. With a remap we can take the 1.8 to the
performance of the 2.0, with smoother delivery across
the range and improved acceleration. It is not going to
turn your 1.8 into a fire breathing V6 beater though.
This work requires us to take the ECU off the car and
read it as it cannot be done from the OBD socket so be
prepared for us to wield our trusty 10mm drive.

Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 T Spark (including
Selespeed)
Our remap will add some 12 to 15 bhp
to the original 155 bhp making a markable improvement
in drivability and mid range acceleration. Fuel consumption
is around the same as before the remap. This work requires
us to take the ECU off the car and read it as it cannot
be done from the OBD socket so be prepared for us to wield
our trusty 10mm drive.

Alfa Romeo 156 2.4 JTD (Also
Fiat Marea 130)
This is our favourite car to do. The power increase is
phenomenal and without pay off. We can take even the original
136bhp Euro 2 version of this engine to over 190bhp and
near 300 lb ft torque, an immense increase. Driving the
car now is akin to driving a 2.5 V6, with power all the
way up the rev range. Acceleration is below 8 seconds
and top speed its at least 10mph up on the original. Because
of this huge power increase, we are very careful about
the pre inspection of the vehicle and its condition. Should
we have concerns over the brakes or any aspect of the
the car's safety we will ask that the issues are rectified
before we do the work. We would also suggest that on high
mileage cars that the cambelts have been changed as per
the service schedule. But once the remap has been done
- wow!
One of our customers sent us a text message that read.....
"I don't know how and when you nicked my car without
me noticing, bit I don't want it back. I'll keep the new
1 you swapped it 4 - its way way qicker! Damn I'm going
to loose my license at this rate, and my neck hurts already!
Thanks guys! C U When I buy my GTA! Though I don't think
I need 1 now!!!"
We also have an extra high output version, not for
the faint hearted or small bank account though, ask us
for more details if you dare!

Alfa 156 GTA
Take a fantastic car and make it more powerful –
OK, that was a challenge! This engine is already highly
tuned so it takes something special to eek out a further
15bhp, but we managed to do so and improve the throttle
response. The power delivery is much smoother and the
traction control seems to come on a lot more?

Mini One
Cracking small car, now given the additional power it
deserves. With an extra 15bhp the pick up is a lot smoother
and delivery more urgent. Phil’s feedback was “I
seriously recommend this for any petrol head” –
I must find out what Andy out in his coffee!
With the Mini Cooper S, we can go silly and achieve over
210bhp – for a lot less than money than you may
think, contact us for details.

VW Golf Tdi
These 1.9 VW engines are almost bullet proof but tend
not to be entirely smooth in operation in their original
tune – or so we have found! There is a lot of hesitation
in low gears between 2 and 3,000 rpm. We have found that
after tuning, this hesitation is eradicated completely
and the engine revs freely all the way up the range. We
can almost put whatever power you require through it,
but we tend to think that 180bhp / 295lb ft is about right
for the best combination of power, economy and drivability.
With the above tune it knocked some 4 seconds off the
0-60 time on one 2001 Tdi. As one owners said “Wow,
you’ve created a monster” whilst grinning
madly!

Other Cars
The above driving impressions are from either our own
long term tests or from cars we have done a number of
to obtain an impression. We can also do the following
list of vehicles, although either due to the low number
of remaps done or a lack of feedback we have no impression,
such as Alfa 147 & 156 1.6, Alfa 147 (although the
1.8, 2.0 & 1.9 JTD engine are the same as those above).
We would make some sort of assumption that characteristics
are likely to be similar for similar specification engines
though. If you would consider providing us with feedback
on your car, good points, bad points, fuel consumption
tests etc please talk to us as the more the merrier.

Cars We Cannot Remap
There are certain cars we cannot remap simply because
the technology used in them is too old. To remap a vehicle
you need the ECU chip to be programmable, this became
more mainstream in 1999 however there are some cars that
have older technology still. The following list is cars
we have tried to communicate to but have had no success:-
Fiat 1.8 (Barchetta, Punto HGT and Coupe )
Fiat 2.0 20v (Coupe, Bravo HGT and Marea 155)
Fiat 1.4, 1.6 & 1.8 (Bravo/a, Multipla & Marea)
Fiat 1.2 8v (Punto)

Comments
on us!
Whilst we do take what we do very seriously we also enjoy
doing it and meeting new people and their cars. We also
we like to drive Italian cars they way they were built
to be driven....
