Fuel Saving Remap

Use Less Fuel

An Angel Tuning remap can not only reduce harmful exhaust emissions by up to 25% but also improve fuel economy from 7%-15%. This is unlike many other ‘chip tuning’ or remapping suppliers who are focused just on getting more power through burning more fuel, and which actually has the opposite effect of increasing emissions by as much as double!

Use the calculator on this page to work out how much you could save in fuel costs with an Angel Tuning remap.

How will a remap save me fuel?

Remapping involves changing the way your engine’s ‘brain’ (the Engine Control Unit or ‘ECU’) calculates how much fuel should be supplied to your engine and the mixture of fuel and air. These calculations are made based on the load that the engine us under.

Angel Tuning have developed unique calculation profiles that allow fuel to be burned more efficiently and to reduce the amount of fuel supplied to the engine when necessary.

Our unique fuelling calculations also provide more torque at lower engine speeds, which means that you don’t have to change down the gears as often, and the engine can work at lower revolutions per minute (rpm) thus also burning less fuel.

What is the best way to drive to conserve fuel?

The one aspect of your driving that will consume more fuel than anything else is accelerating. Therefore, try to avoid hard acceleration and get up to speed smoothly and gradually. Every time you have to stop in traffic, you will need to accelerate again afterwards. Therefore, try to be more aware of the traffic conditions in front of you and begin to slow down well in advance. In many cases you’ll find that the stopped traffic will have started moving again by the time you reach it, but more importantly, you won’t have needed to completely stop. This is important, because it take much more effort to start moving than it does to keep the momentum of your car going, and that effort, or energy comes from your fuel.

What can I do to my car to improve my fuel economy?

One area that many people neglect is their tyres. Your tyres help to keep your car on the road through the frictional resistance, or grip, when cornering, but they also have resistance to rolling (you may have heard about ‘rolling resistance’). The greater the rolling resistance, the more effort and the more fuel will be needed to move your car forward. Fitting tyres with a low rolling resistance will help improve fuel economy.

Also, you should ensure that you regularly check your tyre pressure. A soft tyre has much greater rolling resistance, and is therefore harder to move forward, than a tyre that is at the correct air pressure.
